What is a QR code?
A QR (quick response) code is a two dimensional barcode that gives consumers instant access to information with most smart phones. When a QR code is scanned, it can link directly to digital web content.
QR codes were originally invented and used in Japan over a decade ago, but have quickly grown to other countries – including the United States. Today, these codes are used for a variety of different applications such as business websites, email, pictures, SMS and more.
How does it work?
Smart phone users simply download a QR reader or scanner application to their phone and scan the barcode through the mobile camera. The phone will immediately open up the web browser and the user is free to access the information digitally. It’s as simple as that!
QR codes are free and quick to make. All you have to do is plug in your desired data/information into a code generator and you will have a functional barcode in minutes. The possibilities and uses with QR codes are endless.
